OPENING RECEPTION: THREE NEW EXHIBITIONS - "Golden Dreams," "Out of the West" AND "Disney Production Art"

Saturday, March 18, 2017; 6pm to 9pm

Chapman University’s Hilbert Museum of California Art welcomes you to celebrate with us as we open three exciting new exhibitions: "Golden Dreams: The Immigrant Vision of California," "Out of the West" and "Disney Production Art."  Join us to get a first look at the new shows, and enjoy some great refreshments generously catered by our friends and neighbors at Ruby's Diner and Streamliner Cafe.

The Hilbert Museum exclusively showcases the work of the California artists who visually captured the history and culture of the Golden State, from the 1920s to the present day. Our three new exhibitions feature acclaimed artists Emil Kosa Jr., Lee Blair, Mary Blair, Millard Sheets, Phil Dike, Fletcher Martin, Rex Brandt, Eyvind Earle, Phil Paradise, Milford Zornes and many more.

This event is free and open to the public.

The Hilbert Museum parking lot (in front of the Museum) will be closed all day (Saturday, March 18 only) to accommodate the catering setup. Please park in the West Campus parking structure, located at 230 N. Cypress Street in Orange, Calif.   The Hilbert Museum is located about a block away at 167 N. Atchison St., across from Ruby’s and the train station.  We will have associates stationed at the parking structure to give you a parking pass and direct you to the Museum.

"GOLDEN DREAMS: An Evening of Art and Music"

Saturday, April 1, 2017 at 7pm

FREE and open to the public!  Join us for the very first musical event ever held inside the Hilbert Museum!  A quartet from Pacific Symphony will perform a variety of classical works curated by Chapman adjunct professor Susan Key, in conjunction with the 2017 INTERPLAY Festival of arts and ideas, presented by Chapman University and Pacific Symphony.  The program will include the world premiere of a new work by Chapman student composer Sam Ek, commissioned by Museum founders Janet and Mark Hilbert and based on a painting in the Hilbert Museum.  Guests will be able to stroll through the Museum before or after the concert to view the three current exhibitions.  Free noshes from a selection of California cheeses, fruits and beverages will be on offer to guests before the concert. No reservations; LIMITED SEATING - first-come, first-served.  Doors will open at 6pm.
